Tour de Victoria
The Ryder Hesjedal’s Tour de Victoria is a supported mass participation cycling event, catering to all fitness levels by offering three distances: 140km for the enthusiast, 100km for the entry-level rider and a 50km ride for those who want to experience cycling for the first time!
Why Ryder Hesjedals Tour de Victoria?
Back in August of 2010, Ryder Hesjedal and retired professional cyclist and former Olympian, Seamus McGrath hatched the idea of the Tour de Victoria to showcase the incredible cycling routes that Vancouver Island has to offer. Both athletes spent years training together on the very same roads the Tour de Victoria's route travels on.
The 2011 Tour was a huge success with 1500 riders from all over North America gathering together to tour the beautiful back roads of Victoria and its surrounding municipalities.
The 2012 Tour promises to be an even bigger and better ride. This year's Tour will take place on Sunday, June 24th, allowing participants lots of lead time for spring training.
Ryder Hesjedal says, "After such an amazing first year, we are promising an even better event in 2012! We would like to make a special mention of our new presenting sponsor, GoodLife Fitness.

Changes for 2012
We are happy to announce some course/distance changes and the addition of the 50km Tour de Victoria. Our 90km Tour now gains 10km’s to become the 100km Tour de Victoria. In order to include more of the communities in our event, we have moved the start line of our 100km ride to City Centre Park in Langford.
We are also proud to announce the addition of the 50km distance. This ride will welcome those aged 16 and up. The 50km starts at Parklands Secondary in Sidney.
All three of our distances will be timed from start to finish in 2012. The 140km and 100km riders will also be timed on the locally feared Munn’s Road hill climb!
All three distances will be finishing at the same point, the B.C. Legislature in downtown Victoria, where we will be providing a welcoming festival environment. If you won’t be riding, bring the family down to Victoria’s inner harbour and cheer the riders on!
