If you are an experienced cyclist, the Harbour Air Epic is the perfect challenge. Depending on your fitness, you can expect this ride to be 3.5 – 9 hours long with an approximate 1,500 meter elevation gain. The route features stunning scenery and challenging climbs, while showcasing the best cycling roads in Greater Victoria.

Starting in scenic downtown Victoria, riders will travel out The Gorge, along the beaches of the Esquimalt Lagoon and then along the rolling country roads of Metchosin. After riding through the thriving Westshore, you’ll head into the Forest of Arenberg that features super scenic roads with challenging climbs and descents alongside mountain lakes and through forest groves. This area is also the site of our first timed section, Passo dello Stelvio.  It’s an uphill section approximately 3kms long with 18% grades.

After a quick breather coming out of the Forest of Arenberg, you’ll travel along past vineyards on beautiful backcountry roads and then be treated to more technical twists and turns on the back roads of Prospect Lake and Elk Lake. Next up is lots of ocean-side riding through Cordova Bay with beautiful views of the gulf islands before coming up to the Happy Ending. Featuring amazing ocean front riding and fabulous views, the Happy Ending is a world class finish to the event.  It’s also the final timed section, so if you have any energy left, go for it!

If you have some cycling experience, but aren’t up to riding the 140km of the Harbour Air Epic, the Trek Legend may be the perfect ride for you. It’s a 90km ride that should take the average cycling enthusiast between 2.5 – 6 hours to complete.  The route features most of the stunning scenery and challenging climbs that the Epic offers, but has a more modest elevation gain of approximately 870 meters.

Starting in scenic downtown Victoria, riders will travel out The Gorge before joining the Epic riders in the Forest of Arenberg. Through the Forest, you’ll be treated to super scenic roads with challenging climbs and descents alongside mountain lakes and through forest groves. After a quick breather coming out of the Forest of Arenberg, you’ll travel along past vineyards on beautiful backcountry roads and then be treated to more technical twists and turns on the back roads of Prospect Lake and Elk Lake.

If you are an entry-level rider looking to experience your first gran fondo or a regular rider looking for a more relaxing ride, the Challenge is the perfect ride for you. The ride will is 45km long with an overall elevation gain of approximately 390 meters. Riders can expect to take anywhere from 2 – 4.5 hours to complete the Challenge course.

The route highlights Victoria’s cycling friendly routes through beautiful country roads and finishes up with the prime section of our ride, the Happy Ending. Featuring amazing ocean front riding and fabulous views, the Happy Ending is a world class finish to the event.  It’s also a timed section, so if you have any energy left, go for it!
